Design & Technology

Design Technology is very much a 'hands on' practical subject. Pupils are encouraged to use their creativity and imagination to design and make quality products, within a variety of contexts, understanding and following the stages of the design process.  In addition to this, pupils in KS3 are given the opportunity to understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook, through Food Technology.

Year 8 Design Technology

Textiles : UGLY DOLL CHARITY MASCOT

Year 8 have been creating their very own ‘Ugly Doll Charity Mascots’.  They have been developing their skills using the sewing machine, applique, fabric pens, and hand stitching techniques.  Pupils researched mascots, identifying what they needed to be successful and combined them with ‘Ugly Dolls’, a plush toy brand, to come up with their own unique and interesting design ideas.  Take a look at some of the finished products….Can you identify the ‘Charity’ they represent?
